Nicole Bissonnette joined the firm in 2019 after several years as a legal aid litigator. She comes to the firm with a wide variety of litigation experience, including in family law, juvenile defense, special education advocacy, Title IX advocacy, and housing. At PMH, she has expanded her practice to include personal injury, professional malpractice, insurance, and other complex civil litigation. Attorney Bissonnette has represented clients as the sole attorney in more than 100 bench trials.
Attorney Bissonnette is highly experienced in Protection from Abuse cases and has worked with several communities to address firearms relinquishment issues related to these cases. Early in her career, she was invited as one of two representatives from Maine to attend a firearms summit hosted by the U.S. Department of Justice and has received training on systemic domestic violence issues from Praxis International.
Attorney Bissonnette is the author of Domestic Violence and Enforcement of Protection from Abuse Orders: Simple Fixes to Help Prevent Intra-Family Homicide , 65 Me. L. Rev. 285 (2012). She is active in civic, community, and charitable endeavors, receiving the inaugural Kimberly Wilson Community Transformation Award in 2017 from Safe Voices, a regional domestic violence agency.
