GERALD F. PETRUCCELLI was born in Boston, Massachusetts on February 24, 1943. He is admitted to practice in the State of Maine, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, the United States District Court for the District of Maine, the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court.
Mr. Petruccelli is a graduate of Boston College (A.B., 1964) and Boston College Law School (LL.B., 1967), where he was admitted to the Order of the Coif and served (in 1966-1967) as Uniform Commercial Code Editor for the Boston College Industrial and Commercial Law Review.
He is the author of Antitrust and the Regulated Industries, 1 Toledo Law Review 303 (1969); Consumer Protection, 1968 Annual Survey of Massachusetts Law 129; and The Right to Jury Trial Under the Maine Constitution, 1 Me. Bar Journal 5 (1986). He was a contributor to Hart and Willier's UCC Reporter-Digest, Matthew Bender, 1966-1968.
Mr. Petruccelli is a member of the University of Maine School of Law Faculty (Professor of Law, 1968-1975; Lecturer, 1975-1979; Adjunct Professor, 1979- ). His course offerings have included Civil Procedure, Evidence, Contracts, Commercial Law, Bankruptcy, Torts, Constitutional Law, Copyrights, and The Legal Process.
Mr. Petruccelli is a Fellow of the American Academy of Appellate Lawyers. He is listed in Best Lawyers in America and Chambers USA Client Guide of America's Leading Lawyers for Business. He has served as a member of the Grievance Commission of the Board of Overseers of the Bar from 1986 to 1994 (Vice Chairman, 1989; Chairman, 1990-1991), the United States District Court Civil Justice Advisory Committee, the Maine Bar Foundation Board of Directors from 1984 to 1988, the Maine Criminal Law Revision Commission from 1972 to 1975, and the Maine Criminal Law Advisory Commission from 1976 to 1983. He is a member of the Cumberland Bar Association (Chairman, 1981-1982, Court Liaison Committee), Maine State Bar Association, and the Maine Trial Lawyers Association. He is also a long-time member and past president of the Board of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Portland.
