Attorney Deborah P. Ibonwa is the newest associate attorney at Petruccelli, Martin & Haddow. Attorney Ibonwa graduated from Cheverus High School and then went on to earn her B.A., cum laude, in Political Science with a concentration in Comparative Politics from Clark University. Attorney Ibonwa is a recent graduate from the University of San Francisco School of Law where she was awarded a CALI Excellence for the Future Award in the study of Financial Law, as well as a Black Law Students Association Certificate of Completion.
After receiving Clark University’s Barth Summer Internship Award in 2013, Attorney Ibonwa interned in the district office of Maine Congresswoman Chellie Pingree, where she communicated with constituents on a daily basis and helped address their political concerns. Attorney Ibonwa also has experience working on veterans’ legal issues, as well as those facing refugees and victims of international human rights violations. Coming from a diverse and international background, Attorney Ibonwa has a particular interest in advocating for access to justice for underserved populations.
Attorney Ibonwa is also fluent in French and Lingala and has a basic understanding of Swahili. Aside from her work at Petruccelli, Martin & Haddow, Attorney Ibonwa provides interpretation services for the Immigrant Legal Advocacy Project.
